Greencastle, PA — On November 12, 2024, Michelle Lang, Executive Director of Operation Honor Rural Salute (OHRS), will deliver a keynote address at a Veterans Day event hosted by JLG Industries at Blue Heron Events in Greencastle, Pennsylvania. This event, which honors the contributions of veterans employed by JLG Industries across various plants, will focus on a critical theme: how empowering rural veterans with solid career opportunities benefits veterans, companies, and the broader community.

As industries and communities in rural America face growing challenges, veterans are emerging as an untapped resource, bringing unparalleled work ethic, leadership, and resilience to the workforce. With about 100 veterans from JLG Industries' plants in McConnellsburg, Hagerstown, and Greencastle expected to attend, Michelle Lang will highlight how veterans can thrive in companies like JLG, while also driving success for the businesses they serve and the rural communities they call home.

"Rural veterans possess unique qualities that make them invaluable to companies like JLG Industries," says Michelle Lang. "By giving them the career opportunities they need to excel, companies can harness the strength and leadership of veterans to drive business growth. Meanwhile, veterans continue their legacy of service by strengthening rural communities with economic stability and leadership."

During her keynote, Lang will speak about the importance of Operation Honor Rural Salute in helping veterans access career resources and support tailored to their needs. OHRS is dedicated to connecting rural veterans with employment opportunities, providing a bridge between veterans and companies eager to benefit from their skills.

"It's not just about employing veterans," adds Lang. "It's about recognizing the win-win impact this has on the veterans themselves, who gain stable, meaningful careers, and on the companies and communities that are enriched by their dedication, experience, and service."

The event hosted by JLG Industries, a company committed to empowering its veteran employees, will feature a deep dive into the role veterans play in economic growth and community well-being, particularly in rural areas.

Why Empowering Rural Veterans Matters:

  • For Veterans: Meaningful careers provide a pathway to financial stability, purpose, and community integration, building on the leadership skills they honed during service.

  • For Companies: Veterans bring unmatched dedication, discipline, and problem-solving skills to the workforce, contributing to the long-term success of the organization.

  • For Communities: Strong, employed veterans bolster rural economies, provide leadership, and set the foundation for future growth.

Operation Honor Rural Salute works to ensure veterans in rural areas are not left behind, providing them with the resources and support they need to succeed in civilian careers. By connecting veterans with companies that value their skills, OHRS is creating a pipeline of talent that enriches the entire community.
