Daily life can feel like a whirlwind, making it easy to feel like there’s no time to slow down. But the One who created the heavens and the earth showed us a different way. After six days of creation, God rested — not because He was tired, but to set an example for us (Genesis 2:2-3).
Jesus also reminded us of the importance of rest when He said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). Rest isn’t just a luxury — it’s a holy rhythm designed to refresh our souls, bodies, and minds.
Here’s your reminder today:
It’s okay to pause and breathe.
It’s okay to say “no” to what drains you.
It’s okay to prioritize your health and well-being.
Listen to me when I say that caring for yourself doesn’t mean you’re neglecting others — it means you’re better equipped to pour out love from a full cup. So take that walk in the garden, soak in the quiet of the morning, or spend time in prayer. Rest is an act of faith, trusting that God is in control even when we’re not striving.
So will you try to make time to rest this week? I hope you do. Let’s encourage each other to rest by sharing ways you like to relax in the comments.
