For many rural veterans, the vast fields and open skies can be a comfort—a reminder of God’s creation and His presence in every corner of our lives. But even in these serene surroundings, life can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when the weight of past experiences and daily challenges presses heavy on the heart.
Psalm 34:18 tells us, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” These words remind us that we are never alone. God meets us in our pain, in our struggles, and in the quiet moments when we feel unseen.
As someone who’s served and understands the unique challenges of that journey, I encourage you to look for hope in the little things: the sunrise over a freshly tilled field, the laughter of a child, the gentle sound of rain on your roof. These are whispers of God’s love and His faithfulness.
Isaiah 40:31 promises, “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Hold on to that truth, my fellow veteran. The same strength that carried you through your service is still within you, now anchored in the unshakable hope found in Christ.
Lean into community—whether through your church, your neighbors, or fellow veterans. Together, we can lift each other up, just as Christ lifts us. In the quietness of rural life, remember that you are seen, loved, and held by the One who never leaves us.
Keep pressing forward, trusting in the One who writes hope into every season of our lives. You are not forgotten—you are deeply valued by your Creator.
