As veterans, we’re no strangers to plans. Whether it was a mission strategy, a daily schedule, or a long-term goal, having a plan gave us direction and purpose. But life after service often brings unexpected challenges—changes in career, health, relationships, or finding a new sense of purpose. It can feel like the plans we once had are no longer clear.
In moments like these, trusting God’s plan can be a source of strength. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
God’s plans may not always align with our expectations, but they are always for our ultimate good (Jeremiah 29:11). He sees the bigger picture, even when we don’t. Just as we relied on our training and leaders during our time in the service, we can rely on God’s wisdom and guidance now.
Here are three ways to trust God’s plans:
Stay in Prayer: Just like we checked in with our team, check in with God daily. Share your struggles, ask for guidance, and listen for His still, small voice. He loves hearing from us.
Remember His Faithfulness: Reflect on times when God has carried you through difficult seasons. These reminders can strengthen your trust in His plans.
Take the Next Step: God often leads us one step at a time. Trust that He’ll guide you where you need to go, even if you can’t see the whole path.
Friends, know that you’re not alone. God has a purpose for your life that extends far beyond your years of service. Trusting Him doesn’t mean every day will be easy, but it does mean you can walk forward with confidence, knowing that the Creator of the universe is leading the way.
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.” (Psalm 23:1-3)
Stay strong. Trust Him. He’s got this—and He’s got you.
